Scientists interpret the signal as a positive test result using specific software.

The reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) is a molecular-based diagnostic test. An RT PCR test is a laboratory test that detects the COVID-19 virus by reverse transcription of RNA into DNA. Nasal and throat swabs are used to gather samples. Even if the viral load is low, it recognises the virus.

Question for COVID-19 home test, do you do it on Sunday. I am flying to USA and the requirement is 24 hrs. before departure. MY flight is 4 am on Monday morning, so I need test done on Sunday.

You can book the test a day prior, i.e. 16th of April. Usually, for samples collected on the 17th morning at home, you can expect the report on the 17th. However, a few cases (1 in 100) may see some delay. Thus, in your case, we recommend that you visit a diagnostic centre near your place of residence as reporting TAT in such cases is lower.
We do provide lab visits for COVID tests in Mumbai, but responsibility for timely reporting lies with the diagnostic centre doing the testing. We would advise you to contact us 2-3 days before your day of testing for better assistance.
