However, in aPTT, an activator is added that speeds up the clotting time. The aPTT is considered a more sensitive version of the PTT.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other related tests&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BT or Bleeding time<\/strong> measures the time taken by small blood vessels to stop bleeding. Prothrombin is a clotting factor made in the liver. DO NOT stop any medication on your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pro\">Procedure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a fairly simple diagnostic blood test. The PTT may not be prolonged until the factor levels have decreased to 30% to 40% of normal. On the other hand, lupus anticoagulant may be present but may not prolong the PTT result.
