An MRI fistulogram is a type of medical imaging test that uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to create detailed images of a fistula, which is an abnormal connection between two organs or vessels.
The procedure is typically performed to diagnose and evaluate the extent of a fistula, as well as to plan treatment. Fistulas can occur anywhere in the body, but are most commonly found in the veins near the surface of the skin.
The patient will lie on a table that is inside an MRI machine. A contrast agent may be injected into the fistula to help make the images clearer. The procedure is usually non-invasive and does not require any anaesthesia.
The patient may be asked to refrain from eating or drinking anything for a certain period of time before the test. The patient will also need to remove any metal objects, such as jewellery, that they are wearing before the test.
Rs. 4000 - Rs. 10000 In India, it can vary depending on the location and facility where the test is performed. It is usually low compared to Western countries.
